Born in Singapore and growing up in the Middle East, Melanie has always had a passion for other cultures, and a fascination with the use of symbolism in jewellery.

Graduating in 1993 in 3D Design from Manchester Metropolitan University, she went on to study jewellery making with internationally acclaimed designers Andrew Grima and Leo de Vroomen.

In 1996 she won the silver bursary award from The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths.

After a career in commercial jewellery buying and exhibition organising at London’s Design Museum, Melanie is now settled in rural Sussex, where she designs and makes her own work full time.

Melanie draws inspiration from an eclectic mix of ancient jewellery, and textures found in nature and everyday objects. She loves to work in silver and gold, often combining the two in the same piece, along with precious and semi-precious stones to create simple yet beautiful jewellery.

“I like to create bespoke, treasured pieces to be worn day to day that tell a personal story, empower the wearer or simply help them feel closer to the ones they love.”
